Hello everyone, you may get a little confused at this as I'll copy the main part of this from another forum just to catch you all up.
I'm now on my second Subaru, had a WRX import when I was 19 and now I'm 21 I've got myself a V3 STi. Well I thought it was anyway, you'll find out more as you read on.
I've had my second Scoobie for just over 8months, sadly in Nov the bottom end let go due to a badly built engine.

Hello there,
Now that the snow seems to have gone, I've finally started work on my project! As most of you may know this is my car;
Now sadly, my engine went in Nov which has resulted in the car being off the road until I can afford the repair bill! So for the time being I'm stripping down what I can in order to lower any labour hours etc etc, it also gives me a massive chance to tidy up the engine bay, respray alot of parts and get the car done the way I want it.
So...
Yesterday I made a start as I had about an hour and a half free before work, first thing was to strip down most of the bolt on goodies in the engine bay and the results are as follows!
So far i've removed the tmic, power steering pump, aircon, airbox, battery etc. Currently I'd like to remove the alternator, inlet, power connections for battery and some other bits. This should then allow me to clean up and spray the majority of the bolt on goodies & also tidy up the inner wings & bulk head which will be resprayed along with the underside of my bonnet.
From the above I've now got some goodies to sell as I will no longer need them
I suspect there will be alot more to add to this picture as well!
Hopefully I'll be back out on the car today, just doing a customers car and then I'll be home to work on my own for a couple of hours so more pictures to follow today as well.
This project should be up until the start of April which is when my cars due back on the road so I'll keep everyone updated as new goodies should be coming over Feb and the main clean up will also be over the next month or so
Cheers
Jamie

Spent another hour or two on it today, again before work which is where I'll be going in a mo!
I've now removed the alternator, coilpacks, half the fuse box (still working out how to disconnect everything!), cleared most things off the inlet and that is ready to lift out as i've removed all the bolts just not got the extra 5mins I needed to get it out.
So top half is nearly done, then it's onto rad, air intake pipe and all the other little bits and bobs
Some piccys from todays work;
Will be working on it tomorrow as well

Hello again,
Spent another couple of hours on the car today...now removed my inlet, fuel rails, rad and a couple more bits. Starting to look a little more empty now, just got to clean all the block, paint the inlet and remove my brakes so I can drop my spare 15's on while I refurb my speedlines.
So heres some pictures anyway;
Hello turbo
Showing slight damage which doesn't suprise me to be honest;
Thats me done for today, will be back on it on Monday

Well, got bored again so while I had my inlet inside I stripped it down so I can clean it all up and respray it.
Started off looking like the typical subaru mess! Hopefully I'll change it all round and get a parallel fuel rail set up before it goes back on.
How it looked ;
How it looks now;
And all the mess...fuel rails, turbo air intake pipe and some other bits and bobs;
And the most recent find;
Hello,
Another update! After a major shock yesterday I have some news.
My car is an STI V3, running a 6S Ecu which should mean a VF23 and version 3 heads. However after stripping down the engine and removing the inlet I had a closer look at my turbo (Thanks to Marks suggestions) and it seems I have...wait for it! A TD04!!!!!!
So...what the hell has gone on I have no idea, the engine has been rebuilt in it's previous life by Inlinemotors (never heard of them), they rebuilt and replaced parts including the turbo and it seems they had no idea what they were doing. So how my little TD04 pushed 21psi I have no idea, so a little bad news I suppose! So...to match what I want to do regarding end figures I have now got a VF34, with warrenty for a lovely price, so at least the turbo is sorted!
Makes you think...so many scoobs must be similar, having incorrect parts for the engine!
The next thing I have to work out is if my heads are V2 or V3 as they look more like V2's which again is different from what my car should be at standard.
Also removed my cam case (50% of it anyway) and the cam belt is fine! Which is good news.
So all in all...very strange day to say the least! But would explain the majority of problems i've had and why my engine is no longer running.
More updates this weekend.

Well...sorry if it's a random mess but this is where I am currently.
Will be working on the car a little this week so will keep people posted.
Hopefully have the heads off tomorrow to see if it's a wrx block or an sti block!
The lovely life of modded cars

Wow i wish i had that sort of competancy with doing work on my car! Good luck with the project mate, it does make you wonder what some mechanics do try to get away with when replacing parts etc. especially when you wouldn't have the foggiest like me!
First time doing something like this myself! Means it's off the road it takes away that rush factor that puts alot of people of...i.e. gives you that extra day to get things back on if needed
Love getting my hands dirty, just needed this chance! Couldn't believe how easy some parts come off to be honest. Hardest bit is making sure you don't snap any bolts lol.

How are you my friend? Sold my old Wrx for this! So thought I may as well drop it on this one

Area52 Autosport are doing the engine rebuild in March. Just working out what needs to be done regarding new parts, even more so since we've found the original engine is a miss-match.
@ Craig
Yes, had alot of troubles not only with subaru's tho! Seems to be the majority of cars I've had tbh, which is why I want to build this one up myself so I know whats been done to it. I've got a good shell with no rust! Now I just need the engine and parts to match

2.5 springs to mind mate, must be the cheapest option for you.
Well, going for the 2.1 kit basically! Will have to rebore the pistons which are being replaced with forged eagles, acl bearings, multi layer steel heads etc etc.
The list is huge, but I don't want to give away all the plans as it's not only the engine that's having work done to it
Regarding the 2.5! It's on the cards, thats for sure as now it all depends on the block that's left in mine and of course if it's an STi or WRX!
Currently looking for 350bhp on the standard box, then all I need is a bigger turbo may look at a TD05 20g later in the year, but on the short term it's all about getting this thing done and paying the money to make sure it get's done right this time around.

Well it is a noticable exterior modification, but no...not quiet a bodykit! Wouldn't want to stick fiberglass on a car! Did that four years ago and wish I hadn't tbh!

Wasn't thinking about anything like that but...I'll take it into consideration lol!

Nothing wrong with ideas, my head was full of them last week! Trying to work out what to do with the car...2.5 conversion, 2.1 storker kit, new engine in total & rebuild, sell the car for parts etc etc...
Just so much to think about
But time to let people in on the secret for the moment, not telling every forum so feel special!
Hopefully, on Thursday I'll be driving home in this;
So this is the new project, comes with tein coilovers, defi's and a nice couple of little extras. I'm the second owner in all it's history and the first UK owner and to top it off, it's a Type R V-limited I believe! Going to confirm this once I have the codes from the vin plate
Will fill you all in on the spec when I collect it on Thurs, will be putting some parts from the STi onto the Type R!
Enjoy the sneak preview
I feel like a kid and christmas lol.
